Structural Engineer
Are you a structural engineer at or near retirement? This may be for you!
Hi-Cube Storage Products requires a structural engineer. This position offers a unique, interesting, and challenging opportunity that would be a good fit for an engineer that is at or near retirement. We require your services 1-2 days per week for the year. We will pay your insurance for each year we renew your contract.
You can work from home or in our office or combination of both.
If your interests are in problem solving, design work, with a high level of interaction with clients and a sales team, this position will be of interest to you.
The position responsibilities are; the design and review of storage and mezzanine systems for seismic restraint certification, slab and floor load analysis. The materials are typically light roll formed sections, with some structural steel as well.
A training program to familiarize you with the specialized knowledge required for this position will take place over a 6 month period with the engineer that does our work now.
All applicants must be registered professional engineers licensed in the Province of British Columbia and in good standing. This is a requirement as all our work is done under seal.

Warehouse Staff
Shipper/Receiver
Job Description
REPORTS TO: WAREHOUSE & INSTALLATION MANAGER
RESPONSIBILITIES: Taking direction from the head shipper, and on occasion
the warehouse manager, relating to receiving, preparing, and shipping of
goods, with the completion of duties as directed in a timely and efficient way.
Interacting with other staff in a professional and cheerful manner.
SHIPPING
I. Pull, count and double check outgoing orders to verify physical counts to
correspond with picking list. Palletize orders in preparation for shipping.
Execute in-shop assembly of shelving, tables, cabinets, and related
equipment, if required, and in-shop cutting of plywood/particle board shelves
as required.
2. Organize outgoing freight with trucking company.
3. Tag with customer name and order number.
4. Load onto trucks for shipment.
5. Date, time stamp, and sign shipping copies, and have individual picking up
the goods sign for receipt of goods.
RECEIVING
I. Offload goods from trucks, note any damage and/or shortage of packages on
waybill immediately. Communicate freight claim to Purchasing Agent.
2. Place in specified area pending inspection of goods and count verification.
3. Inspect all goods as to condition. Any damage to goods that was not identified
at time of offload to be addressed as to who is responsible for replacement goods, i.e. supplier or Hi-Cube.
4. Count Verification -Goods are to be counted, all quantity counts are to be documented on applicable P.O. and suppliers packing slip. All receiving copies are to be date stamped and signed as being received by receiver.
5. Communicate immediately with Purchasing Agent any shortages,
discrepancies, or variances on goods receive.
INVENTORY COUNTS
Assist in inventory counts.
FABRICATION
Assist in metal fabricating department when required, which could include
painting with spray gun, cutting metal parts on band saw, and wiping parts prior to
painting.
REQUIREMENTS: Grade 12 or Equivalent
Good health as some heavy work is involved.
Forklift experience an asset
HOURS OF WORK: 8:00 am, to 4:30 p.m. Occasional overtime required

Installation Technician
Job Description, December 2007.
The installation technician moves, installs, and dismantles various racking and
shelving systems. General servicing is also performed on our storage systems
as well as in our Dock & Door Division.
Hi-Cube Storage Products solves storage problems for businesses of all sizes;
from distribution centers, manufacturing facilities, and lumber yards to
hospitals, museums, and government offices. Products include high density
storage systems, warehouse racking and many shelving systems, mezzanines,
conveyor systems, a large range of wheeled goods, cardboard and plastic
containers of every shape and size, even portable buildings.
REQUIREMENTS:
Technically minded individual, able to read and interpret technical drawings,
layouts, and architectural blueprints. Preferably two years of commercial
construction or renovation experience.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Must have excellent communication and planning skills; must be able to
direct and manage helpers on job sites
• Must be able to communicate requirements to subcontractors on job sites as
required
• Must be able to operate in ‘professional’ environments. Most of our
installations take place in: Municipal, Provincial, Federal, Judicial, Medical, and
Educational environments.
• Must be able to work as part of a team or independently.
• High attention to detail
• Ability to problem-solve and a strong work ethic are important
• You must have a valid driver’s license as well as a clean driving record
• Out-of-town work equivalent to 1 month out of the year as our clients are located throughout BC and the Lower Mainland
• Some overtime and odd hours of work may be required
• Welding ticket a plus but not required
• Must be bondable
