Auto West BMW

Case Study

The new 62,000 sq. ft. BMW Auto West dealership in Richmond is an eco-minded dealership. The
installation of a geothermal heating and cooling system that uses earth’s natural properties to moderate indoor temperatures and a recycling system that re-uses some 90 per cent of car-wash water are just some of the eco friendly systems used.

The efficient use of the parts storage space to minimize the building footprint was also important. A
Hi-Cube structural mezzanine, done under a building permit, was used to double up the automotive parts storage capacity claiming back valuable space above the shelving.

The long spans of the Hi-Cube mezzanine allowed for better planning of the shelving layout required below. The all steel Rousseau shelving with drawers created a high density storage system improving the storage for small parts. The row ends of the shelving were closed off with Rousseau metal peg board creating additional storage space for belts and moldings.
